Year: Released 28 December 2014 by GS Production

"Four funeral litanies" united on the split "Of Poison and Grief. Four Letanies for the Deceased" by efforts of four amazing collectives in one the intolerable mournful memorial service that stretches as ominous Funeral Doom Metal march.

So, a mourning mass opens the In Lacrimaes at Dolor is already familiar to many fans of Funeral Doom Metal project. It should be noted that fact that the works of Noctis combine the depth and the special aura shrouding with a gloom and majestic bitterness therefore first chapter of this monumental creation step by step outgrows to a certain musical line of an album which is picked up and caught by other compositions.

Deaf, monotonous piano echoes like a prelude to the procession starting the slow stream." Of Poison and Deceit" drops down by the lead weight upon the listener's head and clearer and more distinct fetters by the cold and possesses each neuron, each cell of body, each "island" of consciousness... This atmosphere can be compared a vice-grip which either weakening pressure or to the contrary compress so strongly that they ready just to crush everything by the great shattering force. The pure, equal guitar sound, inserts of imitations of church-organ timbres, the powerful vocal roar penetrating to the soul depth the poisonous, destroying energetic - this is general and very mediocre description of that especial picture that appears in our mind when we listen this composition.

Really, words are not absolutely suitable means for expression of such reflections and feelings from which this canvas is weaved. Music is capable to act on higher level which doesn't give in to any regularities, therefore it should be heard and to comprehend independently...

If you didn't stop to want to be part of this sad anthem then we are moving to the following point which was designated by the Italian band The Blessed Hellbrigade with the contribution under the name "Maudit Et Superieur", which burst to replace the previous story. The wall of a crude guitar grinding collapses with fierce and lifeless sounds, it is regularly, heavy, similar to the soil, which fills a grave, finally interrupting communication with the world of the alive. Monotonous atmosphere of sepulchral gloom poisons everything. "Maudit Et Superieur" is the poisonous smoke shrouding dense veil from these first sounds and wails that full of a black despair.

In the same vein the composite idea of split is developed by Aphonic Threnody - the strong, taken place in a mourning path and already well proved performers who create magnificent, effective, refined Funeral Doom Metal. "Bury Them Deep" gives rise in the mind infinite visions of the lop-sided crosses and sad gravestones .

First atmospheric streams of keyboards gradually gain strength, acquiring by the gloomy whisper and a shrill terrible roar of the vocalist Roberto Mura. This track has such melodics which is difficult to be described by the words. The arrangements are entered ideally in the style range of album, excellent powerful grouling, heavy rhythm section with the guitars breaking by the violent force the cold, measured keyboards... in my mind come Pantheist of times of epic creation "O Solitude" and isn't casual as musicians of Aphonic Threnody once had good luck to work with Kostas Panagiotu therefore the influence is obvious in spite despite the fact that Aphonic Threnody have "the person view".

And at last, album is ending by the very much sepulchral track "The Tomb's Penumbra" of the single-project Y'ha-nthlei with Italian origins. I didn't get acquainted with creativity of this formation, unfortunately or fortunately, but in any case the musical contribution of Y'ha-nthlei to this split somehow doesn't look near the previous tracks and especially doesn't come within compare with earlier mentioned "by Of Poison and Deceit" and "Bury Them Deep". This slow monotonous drone, unfortunately has a little common features with a hight level of quality, that required by listeners who are eager for the atmosphere, and quipment and giving. It suggests me on critical idea that "The Tomb's Penumbra" looks here as full-fledged, modifed composition, and it is rather as some the "raw" draft material that useful in best cast for a demo above that necessary to wark very much and persistently that it could grow to the level of a full-scale tape.

P.S. Anyway this is delightful split, brilliant work and the real gift as for me and for admirers of qualitative and atmospheric Funeral Doom Metal, therefore, no matter that you read in my review, I recommend to listenthis release and to give to it own assessment, because such things shouldn't remain unnoticed! It is necessary to congratulate all with recent Happy New Year and i wish to you nice listening!
