Genre: Depressive rock/ambient-black metal
Country: Malaysia
Year: Released 02 July 2014 by GS Producions
Lifelorn this is one-man project by origin from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, playing music in the genre of instrumental post black metal. Unfortunately, the latest release for today, the publication of which was entrusted to one from the Russian underground labels - the GS Production, literally became the last album , bringing the final line under the whole modest activity of this author. The author, that prefers obscurity like many same artists, hiding under various strange acronyms and fictitious initials left on the official page by Lifelorn had make a post where he announces the final closing of the project. The sad news that such a young and promising project may sink into oblivion in the very beginning of his career in the world of art and original creative ideas.
Really sorry to see how the creator burn bridges, but not for us to judge, so take a look at that at least already have. And there is a pretty good ep "Katalis Sebuah Obsesi", melancholic and beautiful sounding, and the album "Lifelorn", made in the same vein, and I assume that it is so called in honor of not only the project itself, but there is what title something heartfelt confession, living in a silent stream of melody and melancholy.
Immediately say, that on the last album you will not hear any super-original techniques, but here is not necessarily to focus an attention on it. The most important thing is the mood of music that is projected into all works Lifelorn, is not it? A (composition and programming) had managed to create its own unique rendition of what is conventionally called Blackgaze, united in own creations Post rock, Black metal and Shoegaze in one successful amalgam. Ambient soft noise, pleasant shoegaze moves , leisurely "buzz" guitars, accompanied minimalist drums and all that apparently don't needs in vocals and lyrics. This is something very abstract and transparent, thoroughly infused with nostalgia and sadness. Although a sense of darkness that comes with the aesthetics of the genre more than the impression of catharsis, rather than suffering. Instrumental efforts this album opens up a large enough space for listeners to find in the it own personal experiences and explain its semantic number.
In the end, everything went very well and with a distinctive atmosphere, but ... one is not happy about the monotony of the sound. Indeed, throughout the entire opus "Lifelorn" can be heard quite monotonous stuff. A feeling as though this album indivisible into separate compositions, although if you look at the contents of the first eight tracks, between them can be mentally draw a bond that unites them in one piece, broken into several pieces. This approach can also be very interested in one album, and maybe "Lifelorn" is the case of line-of songs into a single concept.
In short, if you like beautiful instrumental and atmospheric songs, this album, exactly like the previous EP may well gain your attention and take their rightful place in the playlist.
